The Korean War

Tension #4

Truman ordered naval and air support for South Korea when North Korea attacked south Korea. The war began on June 25th, 1950, then a armistice was signed on July 27th, 1953. (A armistice is a state of peace agreed to between opponents so they can discuss peace terms.) After North Korea invaded South Korea the Korean War quickly escalated into a multi-national conflict. The war led to nothing. All it did was prevented communism from spreading into South Korea. The Korean War was known as the "Forgotten War" because it happened during World War II and the Vietnam War on the timeline.

Facts of the Korean War:

33,741 US Dead

23,615 Killed In Action

92,134 US Wounded

The Korean War marks the beginning of the Cold War.

One of the first jets, the F-86 Sabre, was used during the Korean War.
